COLORECTAL CANCER AWARENESS AND HEALTHY LIVING.
Humanity will always depend on our good and it doesn’t matter how little or insignificant the effort might seem in our own reality, it would mean the world to another person’s reality.
‘An opportunity to do good is an opportunity to make the World a little better than it is, and give hope for those that need it. The effort of good is hardly misplaced’
It was an awesome weekend as the team lead of Niola Cancer Care Foundation Ms Eniola Akintunde and 2 members of TeamNiola Taiye Banjo and Richard Ezeala greeted the audience at the “Chartered Institute of Banks of Nigeria (CIBN) with their presence, for a campaign program tagged “Colorectal Cancer Awareness and Healthy Living”. The event was a solo presentation by the Team lead of the foundation as Eniola Akintunde gave depth into her personal experience as a caregiver to cancer patient. It’s amazing how often, the deployment of strength is a hitherto experience; we have to go through certain things for us to know how much strength we have inside of us. So, this makes capacity not a predetermined idea.
She delivered excellently on cancer prevention through maintaining healthy lifestyles such as eating right, exercising, paying attention to body changes, maximum rest, avoiding excess processed foods, maintaining a healthy weight, be physically active and many other factors. She always highlighted the issue of poor medical infrastructure in the country and other factors like presenting late stage diseases, access to healthcare, early detection and accurate diagnosis, lack of healthy living and lifestyle also part of the challenges and how it is affecting the management of patients going through cancer.
She also mentioned that as a typical urban metropolis, we get drawn into the hustle and bustle which takes a toll on our wellness and well being, so we must be mindful of our health. We must make conscious effort to practice a healthy lifestyle, health screening and healthy living. Because, what we take into our body is believed to be major cause of some of our health issues including colorectal cancer.
The session was eye opening, impacting and fully educational. She mentioned how early screening test has its medical and economic benefits, proactive interventions steps and is part of preventive measures that allows early detection of any symptoms of ailments and diseases which goes a long way to save lives, reduce the risk of further exposure to fatal diseases and untimely death. The audience also didn’t miss out on asking questions that had plagued them before now, added with new findings about their predominant daily experiences that puts them at risk. It was surely an awesome time.
We are grateful for the opportunity to impact lives with the resources available to us. At Niola Cancer Care Foundation, we believe that health is premium and should be paid critical attention to daily.
Thanks to all the team effort that made this awareness campaign possible.
